A quick and easy single-serve dessert mug cake made in under five minutes in the microwave. The result is a soft and fluffy cake in a mug (or cake in a ramekin dish). This recipe does not disappoint for those nights you are craving a moist rich-chocolate chip dessert.

It is super simple to make, with only five ingredients mixed together and 90 seconds in the microwave. What results is a delectable mini cake that resembles a chocolate chip cookie. It doesn’t get much better than that.

What you need to make this Chocolate Chip Mug Cake:

    1. Small ramekin dish (~10 cm in diameter, or ~4 in). If you don’t have a ramekin dish, this will also work in a small mug. However, the mug cake does not rise significantly so it will only fill about half a regular-size mug.
    2. A microwave to cook the mug cake.

    Ingredients:

    • Self-raising flour: or alternatively 2 tablespoons of plain all-purpose flour and ¼ teaspoon baking powder.
    • Almond butter or peanut butter: this helps to bind the mug cake ingredients together.
    • Maple syrup: or any other liquid sweetener you prefer
    • Milk: any variety of milk will be suitable.
    • Chocolate chips: for obvious reasons ;). These will be mixed into the batter and extra sprinkled on top.

    Instructions:

    1. In a small ramekin dish, add all the ingredients and mix with a teaspoon until well-combined. No need to grease the ramekin either!
    2. Place the ramekin dish into the microwave for 90 seconds.
    3. Remove and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top. Enjoy!
